One pressure for all tyres?

Is it a normal thing to use different pressure for front and back tyres? Absolutely! In nearly 60 years of motoring, I've only ever known one car that had recommended pressures the same for front and rear. ........And that one's a Citroen C4 Picasso. Your car should have a label on one or other of ...

I've seen the red E30 somewhere before, probably another forum.

....... And I love the X3. That's probably my favourite colour, but when I was in the market I couldn't find one. :(

N57 Which Oil? Engine known for bearing failure

It's nothing new with BMW. In late '72 my uncle bought a brand new E3 3.0s, having previously had an E3 2500 from new. The 3.0s had a rattly engine from the day he picked it up. To start with, BMW wouldn't accept a warranty claim. Eventually uncle kicked-up a stink and BMWGB agreed to foot the bill ...

N57 Which Oil? Engine known for bearing failure

At the end of the day, there are various theories bandied about the internet. ........And theories is all they are. Until BMW come clean, and in my opinion if they were going to they would have before now, the general public isn't going to know what the official line is. I wouldn't have thought BMW ...

N57 Which Oil? Engine known for bearing failure

I have seen/owned cars with a Full BMW History 4 years old that had annual BMW inspections but only had 1 oil change. I would concur with ^^^ that. When I bought my F25, it was 5.5 years old and had recorded 72k miles. It had full BMWSH. All 5 annual inspections stamped in the book, but it had only...

......... And he came round when he said. Seems a canny lad. Said he'll e-mail me the quote and earliest start date later this afternoon. If he continues to be as reliable as he seems, he'll be getting the job.

French litter!

What you could do in this case is use a suction oil remover. They may get sniffed at, because of alleged debris left behind, but they work. Indubitably. But that doesn't help with the cabin, fuel, and (to a slightly lesser extent....) air, filters looking like right PITAs as well. I think I'm bette...

French litter!

I've never understood my wife's love of Citroens. Currently, she has a mk2 C4 Picasso, which she bought this time last year. Recently, I bought all the filters to do a full service on it. I was going to do the job today. Took it for a 10 mile drive, to get the oil hot ready for draining, and parked ...

I've just spoken to another dude. He does sound a little more interested, and he's supposed to be here "......in about an hour and a half".

.......And he didn't ask me to text him my details. I think that might be a bonus.

Im a tradesman........ The main problem is we are all under pressure due to the lack of youngsters wanting to get their hands dirty.......... Electricians and plumbers........... they normally provide 24hr emergency call out so get delayed by that as well. Thanks for your input. A couple of points ...

Tried him again today. I think he's rejecting my calls. His loss, I'll try someone who advertises a landline number.
It just goes to show that online reviews are worth jack. He's got excellent reviews, one of which gushes at great length about how "nothing is too much trouble". :x

What is it with tradesmen? I spoke to an electrician on Friday, and arranged for him to come and look at a job I want done. His suggestion was "Tuesday afternoon". Suits me, I'm retired and had no major plans. It's now well into Tuesday evening. No word from him, and his mobile is engaged ...

Brake pads warning popped on tonite.

In my opinion, the pad wear sensors are a total waste of space. :headbang: Every BMW I've owned I have removed the sensors from the pads and tied them back out of harm's way. Seriously.......? Eight pads on a vehicle, and only two of them have sensors attached. Whatever is the point? Everyone knows ...

I'd be looking at the vortex breather thing first.
