Re: Brake Bleeding please help

For anyone thats interested the job was a success with no issues, I sealed reservoir filler neck, clamped flexible hoses, removed calipers fitted new pads and hoses refitted and quickly screwed up new hoses, lost virtually no fluid, I then pressure bled the system at around 20 psi. I also removed th...

Re: Service eBay parts

The EGR valve is fairly easy to remove, one of the nuts is a bit fiddly to get back on but fine. once its off its just a case of gently cleaning away the soot build up from the valve body.

Yes obviously it will be the rubber hoses I will be clamping, a latex glove works well on the fluid reservoir.

Looking for some advice from someone in the know. I have got the rear brake pipe sections to replace due to MOT on my E53 ,its the pipes that run from the rear calipers and across the rear upper suspension links. I know if air gets into the ABS unit it will need to be programmed to open valves to bl...

Re: Tyres & Tracking (round the corner from Jason)

Good call getting a 4 wheel alignment done, I had mine done last week as since I got it I have renewed loads of control arms, balljoints, subframe bushes etc. this work had thrown the tracking out as the steering wheel was way off center and a previous alignment was compensating for worn rear suspens...

Re: Leaking brake pipes

I noticed my brake pipes were corroded at the same area as yours when I was changing the rear control arms, I scraped off the worst of the corrosion to check they were sound and then applied silicone grease before refitting in the plastic housing. I certainly wouldn't expect to be picked up on MOT u...

Re: Rear suspension [squeak]

Lower hub carrier balljoint is the usual suspect for squeaking defo not a DIY job unless you have the correct tool to press the new balljoint in and out of the hub carrier, the only way to get a diagnosis of worn rear suspension parts is to release the air from the air bags otherwise the suspension ...

Re: Battery drain problem???????

You need to eliminate the battery first, check the battery voltage while cranking the engine if the battery drops below 10volts its shot. if the battery is good it sounds like you have a high resistance across a connection (poor connection)

Re: Oil capacity

I looked into this and you will not be able to buy the oil for the price that Nationaltyres will do a oil and filter change for.
A few months ago for them to do it with castrol edge was 53 notes. I think you can get a online quote.

Re: rear ball joint

I made exactly the same mistake of not releasing the air from the air bag, even with the tool the balljoint can be mega tight, i couldnt believe how tight it was I thought something was gonna break. Tip: with the air bag deflated check the other control arm joints for play as any play cant be felt w...

[quote=""Giles90""]great write up, I'm wondering if mine need doing. The ride is pretty hard, sure this can't be right. I've had 2 independents look at the bushes and tell me they're fine, but the ride is sooo hard. Is there a way to confirm for those of us who aren't technical?[...
