Little update ***
It's been back to the garage as I started getting the problem pretty much all the time I or my wife went to start the car, they have changed the main relay (part number 61.36.6.915.327) all seems fine so far, but they have also read the codes and I seem to be still getting the following:
EGS
5140 No message, receiver EGS, transmitter DME-DDE
5141 No message, receiver EGS, transmitter DSC
IKE
Electronic braking force distribution
No CAN identification (DME)
No CAN identification (DME)
ABS/DSC
5EB1 Steering-angle sensor, supply
ZKE
Compartment sensor, rear passenger
Door mirror, passenger's side, vertical adjustment, potentiometer
RAD
Fault in aerial power supply
VTG
54C6 Oil wear
LEW
Slider fault (adjustment operation)
STH
Circulating pump
Should I still be getting the errors from EGS?

Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
Re: Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
I cannot believe it has not even happened once lol what I do find strange is that I'll be driving and I hear the gong, only one gong but no message lol
Re: Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
I have started getting this "trans fail safe message" it's doing my head in, i am sending it in for a code read but from the looks of it, that is going to be little use, the pain is because it's intermittent it's so much harder to find

Mine was mate, before you do anything save yourself some money and change the £12ish relay. I've never had it come up again after that's been changed.
Re: Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
Thanks chap, do u know where the relay is?

Re: Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
Mine got changed in the garage, but I think it's under the bonnet, right hand side mate
Re: Oh no! Transmission Failsafe Prog!
So I had my codes read today although the car hasn't played up all weekend or allay today, but I had the codes read and cleared as the garage said some codes are not going to be relevant because of the time that had passed from the original problem? Codes are as follows
5DEB- DEB transfer case:tire tolerance
5DD0 -control module, over voltage
5F02- wheels speed sensor, general
5E44- wheel speed sensor, EMC. Right rear
5F42- transmission control. Limp-home operation
5E36- wheel speed sensor, EMC rear left
DME/DDE: text screen
Check pr19_ID(): 80 00 00 07 54 06 00

D 91 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF

B 8c 05 FF FF 02 03 0A 00 00 00
Now I have know idea what the end bit is, but I have just had 2 new rear tyres fitted so they suspect the 22 inch wheels are doing me no favours, they said they have cleared the codes and this time as soon as it's does it again, go straight to them so they can read again,
