I'm not local, but tbh even if I were, I wouldn't fancy coding someone else's pride and joy. The risk is low, but if anything goes wrong, you need someone with extensive coding experience to rectify.

Some of the guys on the thread that I linked are happy to do remote coding (they are listed on the thread). You would just need to order an ENET OBD2 cable to connect a laptop to the OBD2 port on the car. Then install the esys software with token, psdzdata and some remote control software such as teamviewer.

Anyway, despite what I said in my previous post, I spent much of yesterday on Bimmerfest, the coding guy over there I spoke to is "shawnsheridan". He sent me the links to download ESYS and PSdZData which are now all successfully installed on my laptop. As you know, there are some great guides/how to docs that also come with the download so I spent a few hours last night reading them, plus Shawn has answered a few other questions I had - it doesn't seem nearly as scary as I first thought. My ENET cable should arrive from Amazon tomorrow, so hopefully before the weekend I will have 6NS coded and will be able to enjoy BT streaming from Spotify! Oh and the wife said she wants "the speed displayed in big numbers"..."quid pro quo" I replied

Yeah its not that hard, as long as you follow the steps exactly.

I've coded quite a few additional settings:
- Enhanced BT
- Reduced side mirror closing delay for comfort access
- Auto stop/start remembers last setting
- Remember heated steering wheel setting
- allow windows rollup with doors open
- open/close boot lid without holding the button
- play any (most) video types from usb stick and in motion
- disable idrive and camera legal disclaimers
- play phone ringtone in car
- Zoom option on reversing camera (trailer hitch, without the hitch)
- Allow traffic jam assist on any road
- Allow traffic jam assist to work up to 37 mph (default is 25mph)
- Allow coasting/sailing with eco pro - saves a fair bit of fuel going down hills

Let me know if you need the settings for any of these once you've got grips with it.

hardest bit for me was finding the OBD port (drivers side - under the storage compartment)

turns out when the dealer linked up my phone, he didn't click the audio media option, so redid the Bluetooth, and hey presto works a treat. I can now stream spotify from my phone to the car stereo via Bluetooth, and change tracks, as well as see the current track.

So happy now that it all works as it should, but would still like my texts to appear on the screen, get read out, and use voice to dictate a reply...

Not too much to ask........

Hi Eaglesrest, just tried to do enhanced BT, added 6NS to the SALAPA-Element, loaded the FA file and wrote it to the car etc., all good, BUT when I went to code the head unit ECU, I got an error when I clicked on "Read SVT" (see pics). I've read the FA and I know that 6NS is there, but it won't work unless I am able to code the head unit ECU! Don't suppose you had any issues with this? Any help would be appreciated!

Hmmm. As I recall Read SVT doesn't work for the F15, you have to use Read(ECU). It's been a while since I did EBT, but that's certainly the case for FDL coding.

Yeah it is "Read ECU", all sorted now with EBT and the other FDL codes...thanks for your help.
