Steerin Wheel retracting when ign off

When I turn off the keys/engine/igniton, the steering wheel lifts UP...
Then when starting the car ot goes back to its memory setting location...FINE...

Im told that t should also retract toward the instrument cluster also, as well as raising up  ?
Mine doesnt... can t be set to do this some how ?

The fore/aft movement does operate when I pull/push the lever... but not automatically when the keys are switched on/off...
What should it do ?

Any ideas  ??

Only supposed to go up and down I think just to allow easier entry / exit.

Mine was the same, but newer models do retract as well.

Mmm the wheel lifted and retracted on my 2003 X5 and does the same on my 2012 x6.

You can get it programmed so it will go up and in.

excellent... is there away to set this as a user, or does it need a main dealer to rob me ?

Bmw Ncs expert or dealer, need to be coded to key.
