Just researching my next task (Not that I have finished my other tasks
) and have a few queriesI plan to refresh the following
struts
air bags
lower control arm
upper control
integral links
drop links
ball joints
sub frame bushes
hubs
bearings
swing arm bushes
I am going to get the roll bar bushes as well. Just to complete the set
Why?
she is over 100k
squeaks and creaks over bumps and when raising the ride height
very skettish at the back made far worse when the air in tyres is low
a small bounce everytime I stop the car (engine mounts maybe?)
and most importantly an opportunity to learn about my car and cars in general as I am a virgin to all this.
So finally my queries
After taking off all the attached parts can the wheel carrier come of easy? I thought I would take it off get the replace hub and bearing done up correctly then 'reattach but thinking about this if I remove the swing arm I should get access to all 4 bolts on the bearing right? Ahhh but the ball joint could be pressed out easier if the hub carrier is off the car (I think)
The order I plan to replace the parts is
Ball joint
Bearing pressed on to hub
hub bolted to carrier
swing arm reattached
drop link
control arms
integral link
struts
air bags
The subframe bushes (i brought a tool) and roll bushes need to fit in there somewhere too
If anybody has done this any tips and tricks will be helpful. I plan to take pics and vids so I will try to write diy
