It's gone into basic video mode.  Is the Nav drive still running?

Fuses intact?  Check front and rear boxes.  Front is above the glovebox, rear in the RHS cubby.

Hi, sorry to jump in on this but i've had the same basic problem for a while with some small differences, my will works for ages then internitantly crash/reboot and after a while go to this weird blue/yellow screen.

I was told that it was the unit in the boot so i purchased a new unit.

Sadly just fitted it and i have exactly the same problem still. (i know that this unit was working when i purchased it).

So the question is this..... if it's not the DVD unit in the boot what else can it be?

Thanks in advance.

As Richard has said check connections and fuses first (free option too) with intermittent operation I would first check if the map disk is genuine BMW, the reader heads dont take kindly to copies and re manufactured disks
4.6is X5 Estoril Blue (current)
4.4 X5 Sport Topaz Blue LPG (now gone squashed by a tree)
Subaru Outback 3.0 Rn Star Silver (current)
AMG 6.3 CLS Obsidian Black (sold)
