Spongy brakes

Post by sid10 » Tue Aug 11, 2015 10:24 pm

Just got home from 60 mile journey with very spongy brakes , brake light only came on 10 miles from home .
On drive looks like a drip of fluid under the rear right hand side of car .
Is it worth going to dealers for a fix or an Indie ? what sort of cost for replacement as I might aswell do both sides or all four corners ?
I know most of you have done this yourselves but I dont want to risk it ! I usually barter with the local dealer so could do with a realistic price to compare as I have a feeling I will have to sell my remaining kidney to pay for it ?
  Thanks in advance .

Sounds like the rear flexi pipe is leaking , common fault due to where the metal part of the pipe is located in the top suspension arm , new flexi pipes cost me about  £40 for both rears and I fitted them my self , expect a indy to charge 2 hrs labour and possibly a little more for brake fluid .
