advice on tyres

Post by Billywah » Thu Oct 15, 2015 6:30 pm

hi folks new to the forum and x5's.
I have bought a 2005 x5 3.0d 100k millage .
I have noticed that it has 2x bridgestone turanza er30 225/50/r19 on the front and a mitchellin latituade diamris 285/45/19 107v on one side and a prestivo 285/45/19 111v on the other side on the rear.i know they are wider on the rear but my question is, will it  cause any problems not having the same tyres all round being its four wheel drive ?all tyres are nearly new so they are not ready to be changed yet and I only do 3000 miles a year.will this cause any trouble to the gearbox or transfer box having different tyres?
any advice on this would put my mind at ease
thanks

As long as all the tyres are the correct size and speed rating for the vehicle and they are all similar in wear they'll be fine .

Hi the fronts should be 255/50/19 and rears 285/45/19 they are staggered as standard from factory the 107 & 111 are load bearing weight . The tyres are best being in pairs as the grip & stopping distance will be different on different brands Michelin being one of the best tyre makes the other not so good , it would be worth finding another michelin to match although it will need to be similar tyre depth .
