I have got a problem with my off side rear tyre wearing on the inside excessively. I am very aware that this is normally due to the trailing arm bushes needing replacement but in this case I am not sure????
It seems that my rear left suspension airbag has not been working for quite a while, I have noticed it sitting/squatting to the left for a while now, I thought it was the ground it sat on.
If the airbag has not been operating for the last 10,000 miles and the car has been leaning to the passenger side on the rear then would this also cause the inside of the rear driver side tyre to scrub on the inside?
thanks for any advice on this.

Re: rear tyre wear question ? E53 3.0D 2005 130k
ok,so got up this morning and stripped the boot out and accessed the compressor, I decided that I would release all the air pressure from both sides of the suspension,so I removed the fuse for the compressor, undid the lines on top of the canisters and bled the air out until empty. I noticed that on the right hand side canister when I removed the air line that the rubber o-ring seal was broken with a bit of it actually missing (maybe thats it??) so fitted another.
With the car sat on its arse I put the compressor fuse back in and the compressor sprang to life and the suspension jacked itself back up fine, I tested all the connectors with soapy water and found no obvious leaks and to be honest it all looks absolutely brand new in there so I didnt really expect anything drastic.
I have measured 27.5" from the the bottom of the wheel rim to the lip of the wheel arch and am leaving it until the morning to see if it deflates, I have the weirdest feeling that its still going to be sat at 27.5" when I re-check,hopefully it was the rubber o-ring that I found that was causing it to deflate but it was on the right side and the car was sagging to the left???
One thing I am not sure of though is that when I let the air out from the right hand side canister, both sides actually went down? I thought the system was independent either side and not linked?????? (any idea on this?)

Re: Rear tyre wear/suspension question ? E53 3.0D 2005
.....Yup, got up this morning and behold, the rear suspension is still sat at 27.5" as measured yesterday after deflating/re-inflating a few times.
I got some real good pointers and advice from x5-d-salisbury yesterday, namely regarding the valve block thats connected to the compressor and as he said, it's all pointing to the issue of the seals in the valve block and not the air bags leaking.....so glad I checked back in here as I was going to swap the whole system out for the spring conversion which in this case (and many others) was not necessary....big up the people on here for being helpful and sharing their knowledge !

Re: Rear tyre wear/suspension question ? E53 3.0D 2005
You're most welcome Chelsea Paul,
I have a set of lubricant service kits for the Valve blocks if any one is interested.
My vehicle would sag occasionally on the rear right every few weeks, Treated the valve block with some dedication "O" ring lubricant & its never sagged since a year later...
Personally I like the air suspension on the rear, as, no matter what I carry, the rear sits at the same height & all the parts are so simple .... once you get your head round it...
The air suspension sounds complicated, but actually, its a fabulous set-up.
Drive safe guys.
