Hi All - My First X (E70 xDrive30d) - Thoughts Please :)

Post by Aff » Sun Dec 13, 2015 1:12 pm

Dear all fellow XDrivers  8)

I would first like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, I am Aff from Southampton and I have almost made my first X Purchase, Whooooop!

Previously I have been a member of the e90 forum during the ownership of my E92 335d for the past 5 years or so. Unfortunately I am having to part ways with it due to our first little one who is now a month old and getting a bit too heavy for the Mrs to get her in the back through the front doors.

The good news I hope is I have placed a deposit on my first X car! Would be much appreciated if you guys could let me know what you think of the purchase

In a nut shell its a 2010 Sapphire Black LCI E70 xDrive30d SE with the Oyster interior and the following extras - Dynamic pack, Media pack, 3rd row seats, front/rear sensors w/rear + top view camera, folding mirrors, 20" Y-Spoke Alloys.

Only thing I wasn't keen on was the mileage which seemed fairly high @ 77,500.  I made a decision to look past this since on average I only cover a maximum of 9-10k a year. For me the third row seats were the selling point after looking at Porsche Cayanne's/Range Rovers since I have plenty of family and go away for weekends fairly often. From my findings X5's with additional seats are not so common and priced significantly higher than the standard 5 seaters.

This may seem odd but personally I prefer the Aero look to the M Sport which is why I opted for the SE with the Dynamic Pack with intentions of upgrading to the Aero package at some point (Odd, I know!)

Now for the price... the vehicle was up for £21,995 at BMW Snows Portsmouth which I managed to secure for £20,500 which includes the usual 12months warranty + breakdown cover.

Consider the price, age and spec what do you guys think?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Aff  :)

Picked the car up over the weekend, here is a before and after pic with the new shoes :)

Hi and welcome,

Enjoy the car and many happy miles ahead.  You may find the single turbo a little short of power compared to what you've come from but for the size of the beast it can still shift.  The Oyster is a lovely colour and we have found in the past that the occasional clean with baby wipes does a very good job.

Make sure you check ALL the documents and check through the car thoroughly before taking it away. I found Snows to be the worst dealer I ever bought from, and I've bought a few.

Just do it, you'll love it. It sounds well spec'd too and sounds like you already own it  ;)
PS. We have a seven seat and find it very useful for those extras when needed, which seems often now  ::)
But you wouldn't really want to long trip (1+hrs) in them though.

Hi the car looks good from the pics and the price seemed very good esp as some 10 plate cars are up for a lot more without the 7 seat option and it's the spec you wanted

So well done on your purchase

Thank You All :)

I have kept hold of 20's since they look half decent and have next to new runflats all round, will be toying with the idea of maybe having them finished in gloss black once I need a new set of tyres since the 21's seem to be £300+ a corner!

My drive is more or less towards the end of a Cul De Sac where there is next to no padestrian traffic, have had the E92 (althought this is a tad bigger!) parked in the same smpt with no issues over the last few years.
