Rear passenger floor cover

Post by themoog » Sat Feb 13, 2016 9:15 pm

Does anyone know where I can get a one piece floor mat for the rear passenger footwell. One that goes right across the car covering the tunnel as well. Muddy shoes from the kids is driving me mental..

I don't believe such a 1 piece part exists...
However... on Flea-Bay, you can get a 2metre roll of anti slip black matting for under £15 & cut to shape with some scissors... & it can be cut to roll up/protect the carpet vertical wall to meet the front of the rear seat too... & tucked under the front of the seat...

Alternatively, save the plastic shopping bags & get your kids to put over their shoes as they get in the car... they will soon get the idea... or simply keep them outside the car until they clean up their act - or WALK home  :)) >:D :))  O:-)

I agree about leaving the kids outside. The eldest (step daughter) gets in with school shoes covered in mud and proceeds to sit cross legged so ends up kicking everything. She is a teenager and I have asked/ told/ demanded/ shouted (in that order) until I am blue in the face. The fooker doesnt listen to a word I say.. No respect for anyone elses property.
I have newspaper all over the floor but it looks untidy.

I would lay the law down.... clean feet.. on the floor... or walk !!!... and actually enforce the threat, or your car will forever look like a landfill site...

Years ago, I actually pulled up, stopped & put my gobby teenage daughter on the road side & proceeded to drive off... she soon came into line.. so I stopped, she & got back in the car & never made a mess again in there... just every where else instead... as usual.
problem solved...
(point of fact... I would NOT have left here there, it was the point that needed to be made)

It was a bit dramatic I know, but she soon understood that it took 3 hours to clean the mess she made in under 3 minutes..
Unfortunately, we have bred a society of children, that are freeloading, thankless, moronic, idle, back-chatting, lazy toe rags...
and the worse part is..... they know the law lets them getaway with it... unconditionally  !

Heaven knows what their own children will evolve into... not some thing I don't want to think about too much....

I have BMW rubber mats plus I trimmed an offcut of rubber flooring for the centre section.

I take a fairly firm line re mess in the car, (I am not tolerant of lazy, cocky selfish adolescent behaviour - I won't elaborate here as I will rant & we will go way off topic).

Sorted. I had a brainwave and went and got 4m x 2m of Firestone rubber pond liner for £21. Its 1-2mm thick and grippy. Ive just cut two bits out- one for each X5- and there is loads left so I will do a boot liner and front mats as well.
In the meantime, just because there is rubber on the floor of the car still doesnt mean the kids can treat it like a tractor.

Muddy Boots afer a walk ? Ensure clean shoes left in car then change footwear on return to vehicle. Or simply remove mats and wipe with a damp cloth when dirty.

Car rubbish, grubby hands/spills.....maybe keep disposable carrier bags in the car &/or a pack of moist wipes.

If requests to kids to take rubbish indoors fail then deposit rubbish on offending childs bed. Keeping kids locked in car until they gather their rubbish might also work.
