After reading on this forum about the 12 year body warranty, I thought I would ring my local BMW dealer and try my luck about my tailgate corrosion.
Listers BMW in Kings Lynn said it has to be submitted to BMW, and they wont accept the service stamp as proof of service. They would only accept the service stamps if I had all the associated VAT invoices from all the services from all the garage/s, even though the service stamps have the VAT number on them!
Has anyone else had this issue? As the third owner, my BMW warranty is about as useful as wheels on a tomatoe!
Thanks in advance!

Pretty much standard across all manufacturers. You have to have proof of servicing which typically is only possible if always done by an approved BMW garage! Vauxhall, VW, Ford etc all do it the same way.
These days with no service stamps any more you absolutely must have the FSH in writing, without it you stand little chance in bodywork/paint warranties.
Try contacting your local CAB to see if they know a way round it. Personally I think it is unreasonable to expect a second hand car buyer to have to go through an impossible set of hoops to get a job done.

Thanks for the quick response, not really surprised at the BMW aftercare though!
