Manual gearbox help

hi guys
iv got a 3.0i petrol manual to cut the story short my gearstick sticks right under 5th gear while in neutral all my previous cars it sat towards the middle.
so while changing gear it feels as if it wants to go from 2nd to 5th and usually missed 3rd unless i really guide it into 3rd.
any ideas.

Have a good look at the linkages under the gearshift gaiter to check it is also lubed and not full of fluff & crud.

It could be a spring issue on the lever system, broken shifter mechanism, or just plain dry.  Not many manuals on here so experience a bit limited.

It will also be worth changing the gearbox oil too.
