Hi

Im not sure but you said you replaced the battery in the key remote have you recoded the key back to the car after ? as I know when my key went flat I had to do that as it would open and start but not lock car.

It may be worth checking that or testing your spare key to see if same prob at that way you can rule that out I think I did a search and found the instructions on here

Hi

Had a look at real oem and there is not much apart from the door lock actuator, but if the fronts lock but won't unlock it logically means the actuator is working at least one way. So assuming the fuses are OK as that would be logical as the door locks.

I'm not sure but you may want to check the wiring to the door by the door shut as the wire there can wear over time as had that on Astra it would lock but not unlock. When my mate stripped it back the plastic cover he found a couple of the wires had nearly broken and only making contact some of the time hence it would sometimes work and then not.

Not sure what else it would be

cheers for the reply graeme i have recoded key to car and lock button works but unlock only the backs open
i can hear a noise from the door lock as if its trying to unlock but sound like there just isnt enough energy in the solenoid to unlock the door and the pass door is stuck closed and i cant unlock it even to replace the door lock if i can get a working second hand one if not its going to have to be a new one £££

any more help would be much appreciated

Hi Nelo
I had an issue with the passenger door on my X5 the buton would rise when unlocking but the door couldn't be opened.
The only way to access the door lock is to take the door card off. You will need to buy some spare retaining clips as a few will be sacrificed getting the card off but it can be done with the door closed I removed the passenger seat to make life easier.
Once the door card is off I could see the actuator was operating but door lock it's self wasn't moving. I sprayed the lock with penetrating oil and managed to get it moving with a long screwdriver, once it moved I could open the door. That made it easier to see what I was doing I carried on working the lock and spraying it with release agent. When it was moving freely I gave it a good coating with Lithium Spray grease and worked it some more. Then put everything back as it was, take care with the plastic membrane it is important if you have damaged it make sure you seal it up.
The problem is a small amount of water dribbles down onto the lock and over time it rusts up, plenty of lubrication should help. Mine has been fine for the last 18months.

Hot start issues pointing towards leaking injectors.
You may need to get them tested and or overhauled

Look for a bosch injector service centre and have a chat to the tech.

Had all mine tested when i couldnt start when hot, and found 2 leaking through, and the other 4 OK.
Had the 2 refurbished and no problems since.

The operation of that button can be coded....
(the switch can be set to not operate if you have deadlocked teh car to stop someone smashing a window and then pressing the button to unlock.  or if you leave someone in the car and lock it you wont be popular!!  :-[ )

It feeds to the Body Module then controls the locks
