Front and Rear Diff

Post by x5e53 » Wed Jun 01, 2016 8:21 am

Are all e53 front and rear diffs interchangeable between engines?
Which diff (from which engine model) would give the fastest acceleration?
Would it be the 3.0i petrol?

All depends what you are starting with....

They are the same casings but different internals ASAIK.

You may gain in accelleration, but lose in top speed / revs at cruising speed.
The other side is that you will then change the stresses on the other components and potentially screw up the speedo calibrations
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

OK.

Thought 3.91 to 4.10 would not have been that much of an increase.
But best to stick on the safe side.
