Hi
I think you're right it does need a little help.
The arches and side steps would give you the option of wider wheels and even spacers on the back as some have done.
A lot of people tgo for the 4.6i 5 spokes or 4.8i wheels 7 spoke (which I had for a while) or even 21" Alpinas or like I did 22" AC schnitzer 5 spokes, you could go for 19" star 5 spokes as on a 4.4 it's personal choice.
Some have gone for later E70 X5 or X6 wheels or aftermarket there have been DTM / CSL style motorsport wheels.

Also you could go for 4.6 or 4.8 bumpers front and rear.
The rear bumper is the same on 4.6 and 4.8 and has a lower diffuser.
The fronts are harder to come by but do look tougher, with the 4.6 being more readily available due to the age of the cars. And you can even get the lower part on its own and graft it into your own bumper.

Re: Wanted some wheels and side steps
Thanks for reply any pictures you can send me of these ? The item number I've put on showing wide arches and steps do I need to purchase both arch and steps?
Re: Wanted some wheels and side steps
Hi
With those arches yes you would have to get the side steps as the arch is specific to the side steps as you can get arches without he alloy side steps, mostly from 4.6 cars
If you have a loo at realoem for BMW and put in chassis or car details but you can vary to the earlier pre 2004 4.6 or the later 4.8 and see the different part no's

Here is a pic of my old X5 4.4 on a 54 plate which had arches, sidesteps, 4.8i wheels rear bumper and 4.8 front bumper fitters to it

Re: Wanted some wheels and side steps
A 'staggered' set is what you are looking for. Rims are wider as well.
If you have a look at somewhere like alloywheelsdirect you'll see all of the styles offered by BMW as OEM or upgrades for the E53, along with the correct tyres and loading weights. You then know what style of wheels to hunt down
There is a debate running about using correct tyres (identified by a '*' on the sidewall) or other brands. The debate is about whether non-marked sets - and it is important to buy a set - cause gearbox or differential failures. The key is to keep the tread depth front to rear closely matched as the differences definitely increase the chance of trouble

Re: Wanted some wheels and side steps
Thank you people, ok here I've seen two kinds of kits, I've been told since my car is facelift model I will be needing the side step (with side arches) from a facelift model due to the front wings are slightly different to other e53 x5 ? So am stuck for choice which kit I should go for these are two types I've seen on eBay item number 282000240122 other one

I've just seen this car on eBay 172237786552 I think this body kit looks really nice am sure these guys (link below) are doing this kit
http://www.mstyle.co.uk/bmw-x-series/x5 ... h-kit.html
Unless any other cheaper than mstyle?
