Bloody thing

Post by ianst0028 » Sun Jun 12, 2016 11:23 am

So.....
Whilst down in Cornwall last week I noticed that the starter seemed to be getting a little "lazy"
With that and the occasional odd fault triggering on the way back I figured that maybe it was the battery and seeing as it's new I wasn't really that worried
I took the car to work and ran a test on the battery Friday afternoon and sure enough it came up faulty/replace on the tester
Changed the battery while there doing all the recommended tricks of shorting the leads (while disconnected) and leaving for 30 min
Put the new battery on and started her up lovely
When I got home the central locking wouldn't work and then I noticed that neither did the wipers or the interior lights
Marvelous I thought that'll be transport mode
Today I've managed to get to the car with the laptop and through inpa I can see that it is in power safe mode.....
Ive cleared the fault but now it won't start.... The engine spins nicely but won't even try to start
I'm now trying to configure dis on the laptop so I can have a look but has anyone got any ideas?

I love this car even if right now it's looking like a pretty bbq

Thanks in advance

What errors were you getting with INPA other than transport mode?

You may need to reinitialise the keys as the immobiliser is not recognising the keys (if you have two do them both).

The only one I could see was power saving mode..... It's still there even after clearing the faults and still no wipers etc also no start

Also.....  Having read Le Man's thread I pulled the gm module out to check there weren't any broken wires there

In INPA find "activate" in menu connection in module GM5 and then you can deactivate power saving mode.

I don't have my diagnostic laptop infront of me but from memory there should be transport mode, power saving mode in the function tab from there you can deactivate .

It's driving me a little mad ..... I've got all the BMW software to do the job but configuring it is troublesome
it'll just be nice to be able to see where i'm going in all this torrential rain we're getting (i'm not actually driving it without wipers)
