E53 rear driveshaft

Post by Pat 68 » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:52 am

good morning

I am looking for an aftermarket rear driveshaft for a 2003 4.6is E53 or an outer c.v joint. does anyone know where i can get one of these please?

I don't do high speeds or mileage so am not looking for BMW OE but would prefer 'new' as opposed to 're-manufactured'.

have done the usual google search but still struggling >:( >:(

hope someone can help

thanks

Pat

no one does a rear cv joint for it

shafttec do a rear shaft  part no is BM236LR

I'll be honest and say i dont know if it's new or reman but i've put one on my x5 and had no problems at all with fitment

actually just remembered there was one little problem ........ the hub nut was the wrong size and wouldn't fit into the hub but i'd got a new one from BMW anyway because i wasn't sure if i could just pack the cv or nor

Eurocarparts sell drive shaft kits if memory serves.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

thank you both for the replies,

- the 'shaftec' item is re-manufactured, Andrew page supplies these for £115 +vat +£18 deposit on your old shaft.

- Eurocarparts 'Q-Drive' are their own brand, phoned my local branch and they told me they were new parts but when pressed said he wasn't sure!!! 'Q-Drive' parts don't seem to get very good reviews on various forums though.

SKF manufacture 'new' rear shafts in the UK and Andrew Page is listed as a stockist but my local branch don't seem to want to even try locate me one....just wanted to sell me a 'shaftec' one, will try head office tomorrow

thanks again

Pat
