Slow retracting seatbelts.

Post by themoog » Mon Aug 01, 2016 9:27 pm

Has anyone fixed this issue? Today i pulled out the passenger belt and left it soaking in a tub of hot water with wu liquid in it on the seat.
It was really slow at retracting so maybe this will help it a bit. I got the idea off ebay.
Ill see if it works tomorrow when its dried. If it doesnt work then i may remove the unit and tighten the spring. Does anyone know how to remove the seatbelt?

Before you start to take your car apart, have you tried spraying the seat belt fabric with silicone spray available from most hardware stores for around a fiver. You want the fabric friendly one so that it does not leave any residue on the fabric of the belt.
I've done it on several cars and it works a treat. You pull the seat belt fully out and spray the belt as you slowly let it retract. Do it a couple of times and you will find it solves the problem.

Yes I did try spraying them a while ago. Washing the belt has helped a bit but not much. Oddly, the drivers is ok but the passengers is not- maybe it was used as a taxi :noexpression:... Im  going to take them out and wind up the spring.
