steering wheel

Post by themoog » Sun Aug 07, 2016 4:35 am

The other day i was at the local train station parked next to an E46 coupe. I could see the steering wheel and it was a real chunky thing with an M badge on it. It was it same shape as mine apart from the lower spoke was solid whereas mine is a split one.
Would one of those wheels fit an E53?  I don't mind mine but our other car has the same wheel but the rim is thinner and feels wrong so I'm thinking about swapping them around.

I think the answer is yes you can.  People who have added the flappy paddle mod to the E53 use that wheel.

Our E46 has it and the rim is more padded for better grip which makes it a pleasure for people with larger hands - like me.

Yes , definitely the E46 wheel will fit, but needs the round airbag and perhaps another (E46) slip ring.
If doing the paddleshift mod definitely the E46 paddleshift slipring

No, I dont want the paddle shift. I just like the look of the chunkier wheel. I might treat myself to one.
