oil pressure warning?

Post by chelsea » Thu Sep 08, 2016 1:36 pm

Hi all,

Has anyone had the "oil pressure low", warning pop up on their 3.0d? I have had it a couple of times when I have started the car and idled for a while, both times at idle and it disappears if I turn off and back on again. The oil level is fine and the car runs great.

Hi Chelsea,

Yeah its happened a few times, like you say, goes when you switch off the car and then restart (after checking the oil level)

Others have reported it lately too

This is a scary thought....

I have suffered just about every gremlin there is... but not oil pressure has not reared it head - yet !!

Maybe you could get an oil gauge from fleabay with the coupler... and fit to the engine & know for sure ??

This would worry me !!

Hi mate,

I have been getting a bit of smoke on acceleration just lately and am wondering if the EGR is getting ready for a clean, maybe that could be causing a bit of back pressure when idling?

Yeah not good to see this message on the dash but Im guessing it could be the egr blocked as Im getting a bit of smoke sometimes on acceleration.....not burning oil at all so not really worried its going to go pop.

Luckily with my uber heavy right foot I rarely get much smoke, maybe a little on start up but then 5 out of 6 heater plugs are supposed to be duff..... car has cost me enough this year  :wall:
