Fuel Inj System - warning

Post by X5-D-Sport » Sat Dec 17, 2016 2:59 pm

Fuel Inj System - warning on cluster..
This occurs when I've given the Throttle a little EXTRA use...
So I'm guessing it is a pressure sensor trigger from LOW pressure fuel due to a blocked filter..

Where the hell are the fuel filters on a 3.0 D-Sport Facelift

There's one under a cover below the sill on the passenger side if I remember correctly.  Very rarely changed at service.

Had a look under the passenger sill & no hatch or cover apparent... any other places it can be hidden ? and are there any variants of the filter... or just one type/shape ??

Try this Video on YouTube.  Covers the 3.0d specifically.

Only one type listed on Eurocarparts website.  Made by Mann who have a good rep as far as I know.

Hi Shreksta Sir,
The Head Gasket issue was a scare only,
I have a leak some place else, prob the filler/expansion tank... but cannot locate the source of the leak yet.

X5Sport Chap,

I will check out the link for the filter.

Fuel filter was the original fitted part from manufacture....
168,000 miles of collected grunge...
new filter fitted in 25 minutes after watching a you-tybe clip of what to undo.

easy job... & an easy fix for dash notification of "Inj System Failure"
The symptom of filter blockage was simply that the alert occurred when thr vehicle was worked hard.

Thanks for the input guys.

wishing you all a fabulous 2017

Like the air filter, it is supposed to be serviced but too many garages 'forget' about it, or once it is out of the main dealer network sometimes it isn't even known about.

Glad it's fixed  :)
