INPA assistance required.

Post by kanewesley » Tue Feb 28, 2017 6:04 am

Being fed up of getting into a freezing car at 5am, I've realised I have a webasco auxillary heater on the car.

(2006 E53 3.0D sport uplift model

I thought I'd set the auto timer to come on and thought I would be climbing into a nice warm car.

It seems that is "aux. ventillation" and "aux heating" are two different things.

The menu on my screen display only has aux. ventillation in the listing.

I have a BMW diagnostic suite on my laptop which includes IPNA amongst other things.

I have done lots of searching but cant seem to find a tutorial for switching on the auxillary heating function in the cars menu.

Can anyone help please.

Thanks.

I enabled mine using P.A. Soft  BMW Scanner 1.4. I only had the MID unit, but it became an option on the display afterwards. I've since replaced the MID with an Android unit and have wired in a relay to turn it on via a remote control. It is likely, though I haven't looked that a setting has changed that would be visible using INPA.

Latest !!

After tinkering about using INPA yesterday, I came in and put the laptop away and thought no more about it.

Still no AUX HEATING in the screen menus.

This morning I went out to start the car to warm it before I got in.

10 minutes later the wife was screaming "Fire....Fire" !!!

I looked out and saw white smoke belching out from the bonnet at the passenger side.

I ran out, and switched off the engine but still continuous white smoke bowling out.

I lifted the bonnet and pulled the two electrical plugs off the webasto unit because as well as lots a smoke, it was whining loudly and the top of it was almost too hot to touch !!!

Whats Happened?????......Anyone?????....Please !!!!!!
