Any one pulled the front door glass out...
any pointers or any one done it before ?
I need to re-tint the glass... & made a lash of it trying to do it in the doors..
I done lots of glass film tints before, but there is a lot of trim overhang that makes these bloody awkward so I decided to remove the glass & do it..

Re: E53 Front Door Glass Removal
The last one I took out (not X5) was simple door card removal then sound deadening, window positioned so that you can see the bottom of it, then it was simply a few screws clamping a couple of bars along the bottom of the glass, lift out, don't know if X5 is more complicated but I doubt if there is much difference.

Re: E53 Front Door Glass Removal
Hi
The last time I watched my window Tintman do the windows he cuts the film to size by placing film on outside of window and cuts to size.
I think it's because the outside is slightly wider due to the trims fitted to inside.
He then he applies it after all the cleaning and trims to finish, so it saves him taking the glass out.
Maybe worth considering

Re: E53 Front Door Glass Removal
Many thanks..
I've done dozens of tints before, & must say, the X5 is by far the most difficult due to the 1" overhang on most of the trim around the door glass... so I'm going to simply pull the glass & do it on the kitchen table..
No wind, no distractions, clean & easy...
I found a you-tube link for the glass removal & it should be a sinch.
Many thanks
