It refused to unlock the central locking this morning. Opened manually and set the alarm off. Ironic as at the weekend I spent an amusing 30 minutes trying to determine whether I had one and did it work, to no avail. Rocking the car, arms through the window, trying door handles.
So it bleeped pitifully at me this morning (my ring tone is louder) and I started her up and all fine. Also fine when I got to work and after. Is this just a glitch or should I be ordering a new key? I only have the one plus the skeleton spare.

Re: Key fob issue
Your battery may be going in your key,not user replaceable, there are possibly companies out there who may be able to replace it,a new key from BMW is £130 I bought one a couple of years ago

When I got the X3 a couple of months ago one of the keys worked when it wanted too, some times perfectly others I wouldn't open the car, I posted it off to a guy on EBay who repairs them same day and then returns via recorded deliver £20 . But as you only have one key that's a problem
He puts new micro switches in and a new rechargeable battery.

Re: Key fob issue
Is it just me that worries about sending a key, with transponder and blade to someone random who has my address which is likely where the car lives?
2005 (55 plate) x5 3.0d sport, auto trans, nav tv thingy, but no dsp.
Under a turbo swap presently (fingers crossed it fixes her!)

Tomorrow morning should tell. 4am start. Would love to order two new keys but alas these 'luxuries' seem to arrive at the wrong time.

Re: Key fob issue
It,s not that hard to replace the battery yourself.
Google it or youtube.
Soldering iron and a stanley knife is all you need.

Re: Key fob issue
It works perfectly now. Just that one occasion. Strange. Still, I got to hear my alarm. I'll get a spare at some point but never-ending cycle of servicing and bits and bobs prevents me at this time.
