Today I....

Post by themoog » Sat May 06, 2017 7:29 pm

Was bored.
So, the washer jets were dribbling instead of spraying the windscreen and I decided to clean out the filters. Who in there right mind decides to put a 7.8 litre washer tank in a car? 7.8 litres- are they mad?.. It took me ages to get the water out with the wifes turkey baster.... Anyway. Sorted.
Then I thought I would 'detail' the door shuts etc. Out came the degreaser and apc. An hour later it looks like a new car.
With the doors open.

Share that one moog, drained mine 3 times from almost full using a 3mm inner hose, took forever, but a heck of a lot easier than a turkey baster! It's a ridiculous volume, but doesn't last long if using the superwash button, another overly exaggerated feature!

If you pull stick towards you, you get a good spray of water. If you push the button on the end of that same stick (like the function button on other stick) it dumps about 3 gallon on the windscreen, utter waste of water lol. I believe, could well be wrong, it was an optional upgrade, ha!

Actually there are3 pumps on the tank. One is for the headlight wash so the other two ore for the windscreen. Maybe one is the turbo pump..

one is for the rear window, so thats the 3 covered.... maybe the turbo wash pushes more power thru the screen pump ?

I'll try to film it, it's ludicrous the amount of water it dumps on the screen.

When first got the car, i thought it was the normal wash and it emptied the 7+ liters before a weeks commute had been done. As such, I believed it was leaking somewhere, checked everything an no. Found the pull to wash and thought it odd to have 2 wash types, so did some reading and found the superwash references.

Crazy, as that superwash got more power to it than the car at present lol

OR you could undo the two 10mm nuts, remove motors (and level sensor gauge), lift it out and turn it upside down. Five mins tops, no turkey basters. Then remove filters and give a good clean

As Smee says the tank is held in by 2 10mm plastic nuts so unplug the pumps and the level sensor lift out the tank and empty it into a bucket. Pull out the black rubber seats for the pumps and there is your crusty filter wash it clean and put it all back, 20 min job. The big pump does Headlamp and front screen on mine.

Humm I never saw them, saw the rubber seals but no screen, will have to check them out. But, you can't pull pumps out with a full tank or it goes everywhere (at least did for me) so still need to shift bulk first.

So if the big pump does headlamp and front screen then that means the remaining two both do the rear screen ???

Three filters - each pump nozzle sits in one
