Just had 1st long trip, 300 round, filled up, got back, it says on consumption the av1 and av2 show the same is this correct ? both show 33.4mpg if so i think that seems quite good considering i took you chaps advice and drove like i stole
Long motorway so sometimes did 65 75 85 and i was very suprised when i floored it at 80 and it kicked down, i was off like a rocket to quickly over a ton, bad i know but thought i was a Beemer driver, most on the mway seem to go very fast, now this is a diesel and well fast , gord knows what you big boys feel like under power in the big v8s ? must be another world again. this though will suffice me more than fast enough. so hope i have cleared out all the cobwebs. performed very well all the way, temp sat in the middle all the time,
so more than pleased with this motor. They are indeed fabulous. They seem to urge you to go faster and faster in a very unflustered way. Pity about all those sodding motorway speed cameras.

Re: Supercar
Hi
It sounds like it was a good test for you car and the fuel consumption sound good.
Yes I found the same the X5 draws you in and it will happily sit above the speed limit yet it feels like 50 or 60 only.
Glad your enjoying the car and they are probably the best 4x4 for on road performance out there.

The av consumption 1 and 2 should only be the same if you reset them both before setting off. One is that particular journey and the other is the total average ever (since it was last reset). So if you reset them both they will have been the same for that journey. Over time there should be a difference between the two.

Re: Supercar
ahh yes i did reset everything before first long journey, will see how it changes now home and pottering around.
i am still though very much suprised by how much oooomph there is from 80mph upwards, it just goes like a bullet, all these outside laners moving over as they see a big beemer looming behind Marvellous. Hope i dont get a letterbox speeding letter in a few weeks
i blame the chaps on here, drive it like you stole it they said. Love it.
) first car for years that actually puts some enjoyment back into driving.

Glad to hear it, I hope it lasts you a long time without significant issue.
I thought exact same, for about three weeks lol, then have spend last 3 months trying to get it back. I'm sure and hope yours will be much better and give you smiles for years to come, they cracking for a big heavy diesel 4x4.

Re: Supercar
About a month ago i went down to Devon for the week,a mixture of motorway and A roads and got about the same mileage, total round trip of 600 miles and never missed a beat once, the pickup astounded me as well for a diesel,i always use STP treatment in the fuel and it does seem to run so much better since i have started using it.
Only problem that i have had and that is only occasionally is the central locking system arming/dis-arming itself while driving, but think i have found out what was causing the problem the wife kept hitting the button near the gearstick, not sure if that was the problem but since i have pushed the button on and off many times it seems to have stopped.
My initial thought about possibly selling the X5 just after i bought it while it was running fine especially after reading some of the major mechanical problems that some folks have had, glad i changed my mind and decided too keep it.
