Mystery vac pipe

Post by Bigb » Fri Sep 08, 2017 9:02 pm

Hi there, just about finished changing my exhaust manifold on my 2005 3.0d and after refitting the inlet,I plugged the two plugs in the back near bulkhead and noticed there is a vac pipe coming up from the top of the autobox, is this a gearbox breather or should it go somewhere? Also I just fitted a thermostat, I have lost a bit of water, is there a specific coolant to use? It didn't seem to be any colour in particular(more like pee water) thanks bryan

Hi
i found same pipe and was told it is a breather, sticks up like an umbrella handle.

also did thermo as only getting to 65c  now up to 95c,  went to local auto place and told it was a special one , had a code on the bottle made by Bluecol    cant remember the code though

Superb, thanks for that. I seen the g48 code on the search function, might just drop the lot and give the beast new coolant
