Post by Blannym » Wed Sep 27, 2017 10:00 am

Morning All, new user and X5 driver here !

Have bought this week a 2002 X5 3.0i with standard sat nav unit installed. ( pictures attached )

I would like to replace the standard sat nav with a new touch screen sat/nav/dvd/bluetooth ... Has anybody done this on the model i have and can give me any advice or tips ?

Looking forward to picking it up Saturday, my first BMW and first 4x4.  :) :)

Many Thanks for any advice ImageImage

Welcome. There are loads and loads of posts on here about what you can and can't do. Have you looked using the search facility? And also, have look on the How To section and see what is there.

Hi yes I have done it , it takes most of the day and I took the passenger seat  out as you have to run a new wire harness  from back to front,
As said  have a look in how to and there's plenty  of post on here.
Good luck

Look on this part of the forum (General) on the heading "just seen" as to what my son has just fitted. I have a Dynavin, but expensive, there's Eonon and Extron, plenty of choice.

Here's some bits, doing mine as well soon.

Dynavin head unit https://www.car-vision.co.uk/bmw-x5-e53 ... 20201.html

You can apple CarPlay to it if you're that way inclined: https://www.car-vision.co.uk/wireless-c ... units.html

The longest Dynavin install thread in history: but some useful info https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5- ... cs-65.html

Yes.
Also to keep the functions of the onboard computer you will need to move the existing radio display to the glove box by extending the wires on the plug.

Do you have DSP, most of the Android units don't integrate with it and seems a lot of work to get your speakers working.
