Hi guys anyone had this problem before,my passenger mirror stopped folding with the button the drivers one folds in then back out due to passenger one not working so i bought a motor and the 2 gears that go in he housing put the mirror back together and still it doesn't fold,when i take the mirror apart again and have the motor sitting on it's own the motor spins no problem put it together and nothing,any input would be much appreciated thanks.

Have you checked the microswitches are functioning?  There have been a few folks on here with similar issues and the switches can be the issue.  Have a quick search and see if any of the threads points you at the right suspect.

Sanj I think it was did a very good article on this very subject. I followed his advice some two years ago and still going strong. As X5Sport says micro switches will be at fault; maybe broken. Certainly fixable by the DIY'er

Hi thank you,the metal clip is still attached to the switch,what does the micro switch actually do?

As far as I understand it switches the motor off at the end of the fold in/out via that white plastic ring with the grooves in it and if it is even slightly maladjusted the mirror won't fold in or back out. Sometimes if you very lightly touch the mirror in or out then it will work again.

[/quote]Thanks the strange thing is the motor works fine until i put the housing back on then nothing.

All fixed and working fine turns out one of the new gears had a small flaw and was jamming the motor.
