Anyone recommend a good painter.

Post by sapphireblack » Tue Sep 10, 2019 6:10 pm

I've just had a quote to paint the front fog light trims on my X6 in gloss black. £300!!!

I can post them to someone sensible pretty much anywhere. They'd need to be 100% perfect

Just thinking outside the box here................

Why not wrap them?

£300 isn’t bad really given the work involved plus materials plus baking time (and electricity) etc, especially if you are expecting perfection. 20% of that is just the VAT.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Hmm, if i still had the facilities, rattle cans etc would see that done for less than £50 :(

Wrapping may be viable i suppose.

Oh well, it seems the solution is just two miles away.
There's a well established wrapping business offering to cover these for £100 (minimum charge) and it will only take a couple of hours.
Vinyl is arguably better than paint too as it won't chip, so all good. I'll report back next week.

£100 for a couple of hours work doesn't seem bad in comparison to dealership labour rates. :)

Let us know the outcome, when you've had it done.

Well, wrapping didn't produce a satisfactory outcome but the same business also paints, so that's under way now. I should have them back on Monday. I'll post pics then.

Paint is vastly better. Being a perfectionist I could find fault but only on really close up inspection.

They'll chip of course but so much better than silver.

Not a great day for picture taking, summer has finished :(
