3rd Gen BMW X5 F40

Post by Sanj » Thu Aug 18, 2011 4:06 pm

Thought I'd share some photos from various sources (some the xoutpost thread).

What do you think of these? Are they close to what the next X5 might look like?

Pic 1 looks amazing and possibly so does pic 4 (but rendered, so probably not true) and then there are pics 2 and 3 which look more 'real'... Or is that the new X3???

Isn't the second and third the current X3?

Definitely the X3 as I think they were in the brochure, or press release.

Exactly - but not knowing the X3 so well, thought I'd ask. Like the first one though....

I have to say that when I first saw the first one a few weeks back, my initial reaction was Toureg not X5.

I do like image 4 though. Mind you I like the new X3 too, especially when you consider it's almost as big as an E53!

I'm not about to surrender my E71 though :D

When is it due out? I may hang on to the E53 until that comes out, would work out nicely.

However, also droling over the Porsche 991 at the moment so decisions, decisions ...

Currently some time in 2013 I think.

The other thought about image 1 was - hmmm, X1 on Steroids?

Agreed - on some muscle pack!

Porsche - never been a huge fan but quick google search shows that to be a nice example... Definitely choices, choices... I wish.

@pvr - Go for the porker, get rid of the Z and get the newest 3rd gen X5 in 2013/or whenever

And think of me, still in my E53 years from now... :D

And AW8 with his Faulty Towers routine on his!

 ..................Sanj - The show was called Fawlty Towers, although with my recent ownership experience perhaps "Faulty" is more appropriate ;)

Yes I suspect I will still have it in 2013.........F25 3.0d would be nice but I suspect house purchase & work to same will prevent that.

Still I should look on the bright side.........At least my shares have done well this week

I agree with the above comments. I definately think the 1st pic is an X1, my first reaction was 'X1' the headrests look too close to the headlining and the cabin space looks quite compact inside, suggesting smaller car.....

Pic 2 and 3 X3

I do like the X5 in pic 4, i'm glad it still looks like an X5 :)

Pic 2 & 3 are not true F25 X3 images unless they or the car has been messed with.

Reasoning to support this.......

Pic 2 Not F25 front clusters. The F25 items are more angled angular at outer sides, whereas the car in image has more oval wide eyed look.

Pic 2 in 1st post - Front wings on the image above have distinct flow lines that run from below mirror bases to centre of front clusters. On F25 these drop downward at front & meet the bumper just to side of indicator housing to cluster.

Compare originally posted Pic 2 pasted blow against the F25 image below it to demonstrate above points made.

Image

Image

Pic 3 from original post pasted below clearly has vented or psuedo vented front wings.

Image

.......F25 below this & shown below sideon does not have these.

Image

Pic 3 in 1st post has rear reflectors just above tailpipes & black trim whereas F25 items are far higher up. The rear cluster arrangement differs too. Compare Pic 3 to the image below
