Yes quite possibly but I have little doubt that they would want to see the car 1st.

Some indy's can't afford to waste time with haggled bills &/or hassles with salvage parts that might be incorrect, won't work or which may code correctly. They may also be keen to avoid liability, comeback &/or disputed payment in event a customer later takes issue with work done.

Even if car has been to main dealer most will insist on seeing your car 1st.

Ironically I just left Z3 with indy & a salvaged part, (sump so not electrical or safety related). Despite my sourcing efforts, we wont know if part correct until he strips car. If wrong part then I will pay for him to finish the job as he sees fit. I won't have a significant discussion re final bill as neither of us can be doing with the hassle......If salvage part fails thats entirely down to me. This is a one favour & quite simply I would not expect him to welcome me supplying salvage part(s) again.

Oh & btw I currently use Rich at Barker Motor Works Haslemere. BMW X5 owner & ex BMW UK Technical guru. I believe his BMW UK training & experience is more up to date than some other Indy's. I totally trust Rich & I like to think he trusts me.

Have used Sussex Indy's. PBM at Ditchling have done good work but unhappy how a technician spoke to me. AJ Robertson at Hove is decent, bit of a character & comes across as old school. I would trust him with spanner work & expect fair bills.

Despite above don't expect any Indy to welcome a new & unkown customer with a potentially incorrect salvage part part(s) &/or advance bill haggling.......Simply not worth their hassle(s).

Maybe consider looking more into the dry solder repair option but you may just have to bite the bullet.

Good Luck :)

I would pm Jason and see if he is able to do coding etc, I'm sure he could point you in the right direction re location of the unit also.
Def worth an ask IMO.

we where the 1st in the uk to figure out how to unlock these units so we could recode them to another car
When these are new they need coding to the car then they are locked to that car
If removed and coded to another car they will keep the other cars details like chassis number milage and so on
If you then put this on to your can it will cause to mileage tamper light to come on
We can unlock these and recode them like a new lcm
