what a weekend!!great results

Post by kkodal78 » Sun Nov 13, 2011 1:00 pm

i decided to get some stuff done on the X5 yesterday and started working on it around 3pm. in about 4 hour time frame which i think is a long time get these done but i changed both sides front control arms which was ok and the ball joints both sides...what a nightmare to change the ball joints.. both side sway bars links . and oil and filter change.. i was going to change the control track arms as well but i just did not want to take a risk of worrying about tracking after so i'll wait a couple of more days to make sure i have an appointment to get the tracking done after i change them.. so at the end i have a heck a lot of better handling and no more clunks in the front. the rear bushings and arms were done back in may so all around should be good to go for awhile. i am waiting on the amplifier and the subwoofer to arrive from states and of course the 75W HID kits to arrive..those will be next before i had down to remap.

here is a link for oem bmw parts if you would like to compare prices from stateside to UK.i've used them several times for my E39 and E53 and always happy with my purchase. not affiliated with them so please don't get me wrong. i figured this would be a good option to have to compare actual prices of the parts you might look for.

Nice one. Always a nice feeling when you've done it yourself.

Need to replace the front tension arms too and the balljoints.

i do enjoy working and getting things done on my X5 myself. not just about saving money which another plus but it makes me feel whole a lot better when i do it myself. if you are close to where i live i'd me more than happy to help you. we also have a place called a hobby shop on out military installation which has the lifts and all the tools you need to work on cars. having the car on a lift makes it a lot easier to get stuff done and not worrying about if you have the tools you might need is another relief.
