Headlamp lens exterior surface - glass or polycarbonate?

Post by Smeeagain » Tue Jan 03, 2012 2:10 pm

I have a 2004 E53 3.0 D Sport - can anyone tell me if the healdlamp cover (ie the exterior 'glass' assembly not the bulb) is made from glass or polycarbonate. Reason for asking is that they exterior surface has gone slightly foggy. If it is polycarbonate then i will try a wet sand plus some Plastx applied with a DA polisher. Not so sure of same process works on glass though

Thanks

Smee

Polycarbonate iirc. They certainly feel it. I do believe there was thread on the old forum by someone who restored his lamps, maybe he (or she) is a member now and can comment :)
