Quiz Time!

Post by UrbanFlow » Wed Jan 18, 2012 2:35 pm

Dear all,

I'd like some help in identifying various electronic modules and components in the boot of my X5 E53.
Mainly because I'm curious - but also because I think it would be helpful to have a quick guide for new members and people tackling problems.

Behold, they are a marvellous sight - and guaranteed to strike fear into the hearts of most! But what does what??!
I've filled in the ones I know.

A. ?
B. ?
C. Mark IV DVD player for Sat Nav
D: 6 CD Changer Unit
E: ?
F: Bluetooth Comms Unit

G: ?
H: ?
I: ?
J: Towing Module
K: ?
L: Empty Slot - But what is it for?
M: ?
N: ?

'Black Box Flight Recorder' is NOT the answer to any of the above!

Oooh, it's been a while since i was digging around in these places, thankfully.

A iirc is a Bluetooth related item, i can't recall what it is though, an antenna i think

B i don't recognise my car doesn't have one.

E not sure what you're identifying tbh. That's DSP /amp area

G, there are two shown? the second one with the slots in looks like an old Trafficmaster unit

I'm sure the really nerdy will confirm or otherwise and fill in the blanks :)

E: The silver unit behind the black panel - I guessed at the amp.
G, there are two shown? the second one with the slots in looks like an old Trafficmaster unit
G: Yes, it's the same item lifted out.
And yes, my car has traffic master fitted if that helps. (My god it looks antiquated when you turn it on! Needless to say I don't use it or subscribe to it.)

Cheers for gaps filled so far...
