SMG flappy wheel change.

Post by Ubatoid » Sun Feb 05, 2012 4:53 pm

Whilst waiting for my Hualigan to turn up, I found myself trawling our favourrite auction site for bits for the X I Stumbled across a sports wheel from an E46 with the flaps including airbag, slip ring and extra loom for £200. Seemed cheep so the deal was done. Managed to get round to fitting it this weekend and discovered on the back of my exsisting slip ring there was a plug with two wire where the connection to the gearbox goes already plugged into the ring although the ring itself doesnt have any pins just the socket.

Now I thought it was hoping a bit much for this to be wired in correctly to the shifter and it would seem i was right. Just wondered if anyone new what this (brown) plug was for that goes into the indicated hole above?

Have a look over on Xoutpost. A number of folks have done this mod. Could it have been to power wheel heating? Just a pure guess.

Yes - look like the heated steering wheel plug. Had that when I changed mine over.

I think you guys may have nailed it. That does make much more sense than me having a special one off car pre-wired for the paddles.
