Wiper kit
Wiper kit
I got the aero wiper blades from eBay, got all three for a tenner and have to say they're the best ones if ever used and at that price they get replaced every 6 months.

BMW X5 e53 99-06 AERO FLAT WIPER BLADES front and rear
Work a treat super silent, perfect wipe and cheap as chips.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X5-e53-99 ... 4aa6c5e80e
jeez these are cheap....what's the catch?
I've always bought traditional bosch before but they seem to get noisy very quickly from new...maybe expecting miracles
Mind you I quite fancy the aero look if they wipe the window (at speed) and don't get done in or noisy quickly
Is there any mods needed to make the aero wipers fit?
thanks
think you have to remove the plastic that supports the wiper on the drivers side on the arm itself

No, the ones I ordered are a direct fit, no mods whatsoever and no noise at any speed, I'll try and find the link and post it up here
Just had a look and if you do a search for Mr_Wiper you'll find them for your car.

Re: Wiper kit
FYI, I purchased Valeo aero ones off eBay, which were supposedly a perfect fit for the E53. Never worked quite right and used to leave sections unwiped. As someone said above, the problem was they didn't clip into the existing arm properly due a a clip on the arm which I did not fancy breaking off!
Went back to conventional blades (Bosch Spoiler - Super Plus) and working great, both front and rear, with perfect fit. 24", 22" and 17" (rear). Very secure.
Are the bosch ones any better an cheapos ??
I got Bosch but bought cheapy one for the wifes car ended up taking them off and binning them after a couple of months as they were making such a racket.
Valeo on there now
That is my exeprience with them I have always got either Bosch or Valeo for my car not really worth scrimping for the sake of a couple of quid when it is hammering down with rain and you can't see where you are going.

I cut about 1/4 inch off the end of the clip/guide with a pair of sidecutters so it would clear the wiper blade

I used to use rain x too which is awesome driving above 40mph in heavy rain. Even better on motorways, I've done entire journeys in rain and never used wipers
