Wobbly Wing Mirror

Post by garethdeb » Tue Feb 21, 2012 6:50 pm

Hi guys
My drivers side wing mirror is wobbling a bit when on the move. Having recently replaced both wing mirrors on my wife's Z3 because the alluminium bracket had corroded due to disimilar metals, I am rather nervous about the mirror on the X5 as they are considerably more expensive!
So, question is, has anyone else had this problem, is it the same problem with corroded springs etc inside the housing and if so is it repairable or am I going to have to start saving up for a new mirror?
Cheers guys
Gareth

Is it just the glass wobbling or the whole surround?

It's the whole unit wobbling, hence why I suspect the joint assembly but to be honest I'm scared to open it up in case I go beyond the point of no return!

ah. im having an issue of just the glass vibrating after loosing two of the four holding lugs in a mirror to mirror encounter! im hoping a spot of strategically placed bubble gum will sort it out..
as for your problem, i have never had to remove the whole mirror assembly but im sure if you do a search, its been covered before. hope you sort it out. :)
