If you look at the lid of the fuse board it will tell you which ones are which, and no, there should be no reason for it showing an error message if you switch the ignition on whilst the fuse is removed, I did to move the wheel round to get at the screwdriver slots behind the wheel.

That's why I was concerned because (being a BMW) it would get all prissy and tell me the obvious...with a dealer reset
