Agree with the above. But surely the point is with it being online does away with all the theft of blank MOT forms (which had the embossed stamp) and forgeries - the point being the only way to genuinely check is to lookup the vehicle online.
Totally agree with the above except there are doubts over the accuracy of the data held on DfT and DVLA databases.
There have been a number of recent incidents where incorrect data has been supplied and has not been updated leading to drivers being accused by the Police of either no MOT, Insurance or current licence.
A number of motorcyclists have completly lost their entitlements when renewing their licence (as we have to with photo licences) and having to resit their tests.
I still think it should be possible to print something a little better though, and the MOT Approval should come from the DfT servers along with a colour icon/header. It's not rocket science! Generate it as a PDF document. We do it all the time, as do many on line stores. The Civil Service has been, and continues to be, very poor at bringing its tech up to current levels.
Just look at how long ut's taken to replace the V5C documents after a theft about 8 years ago! We got a new one for one of our cars only today. Blue being replaced by Red. That change should have taken days, not years to instigate.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
