Thought I would investigate a little miss-fire my 4.4 had developed this weekend. I had noticed my oil seperator breather pipes had become spongey and looked as though they had soaked through with oil so I bought those at the same time as a set of plugs ( incedentily I bought Range Rover hoses instead of BMW ones, and saved myself £40 + - ).

Any how, here is a picture of one of the plugs (they where all the same) these where marked up as BMW NGK, now seeing as the last service from a BMW garage, acording to the history was 90K ago, these little darlings look like they have been in for a while. All the centre electrodes have erroded below the level of the ceramic. My worry is that what else has been skipped when serviced by non dealer or specialist garages ?

This next one caught me by surprise... pulling out the old breather pipes I was presented by this...

Ive had a good look through Real OEM and I cant find solder ring connectors anywhere. I have no idea why it was connecting two parts of the breather pipe.

I dread to think what other surprises she has in store for me ???

Hmmm, that definitely doesn't bode well for other unwanted 'discoveries' does it! If were me, I think I'd be doing a full Inspection 2 service plus any items that might have been 'missed' earlier. Has anyone got a service sheet of what should be done and at what point?
