Yup, tis £460 a year. I think people always get this out of perspective. It's an extra £200 a year on an item that costs £14k. Quite a small percentage really.

DVLA website definitely shows the tax in date till 1-6-12 so I guess it depends how long they take to up-date records if the previous owner cashed it in. I'm buying through a dealer so not sure how long since the previous owner let it go.

Myn just falls into lower band on feb 55 reg but I viewed a few in the higher band and thought well its only £600 over the time ilikely to own the car! I do think however as they fall down to the bottom end of the market like 5k the slightly earlier cars will become more sought after!

Good point Shadrack. I guess the way round that is to put 6 months tax on it when it goes up for sale.

Does the Dealer not have the disc? Some would remove it for safe keeping while the car is on the forecourt.

Had a good journey back with no major issues and weather was pretty decent. Left Aberdeen at 11.00 and arrived back in Biddenden at 20.00. 1 stop for diesel in Bromsgrove.

Issues at handover. Dealers idea of "good" tyres and mine are not the same. They were all Diamaris but 1 front and 1 back had only about 1.5mm of useable tread left. Managed to get another £100 off. Not enough but at least a gesture. Everytning else was fine although mileage in ad was 58k and it was actually 59.5k. Why do they do that.

Issues on drive: Tyre pressure moniter bonged somewhere near Edinburgh. Checked presssure and 1 slightly down so pumped up and reset. No morw warnings for the rest of the journey. Auto headlights (Xenons) came on during a rain shower and after a few minutes the nearside went out and a warning came up. I switched off. For the last hour of the journey I put the lights on manually and they worked perfectly. Will have my indy check wiring when he does Insp 2.

Very pleased. Feels a lot quicker than my current car. Perhaps it's been re-mapped coz the difference is significant. Drives very well and all the switches work.

Comfort seats are superb. After 9+ hours in them I can say I am an expert now. No numb bum or bad back. Only issue was my knees were shagged after being in 1 place for so long, a legacy of all that football when I was younger.

So generally very pleased and will get pics up as soon as I can. Probably not till after holiday now as the weather today, in Kent, is yuck.

Cheers Sanj.

VED still showing on DVLA website as current. I'm going to local office tomorrow to see if they will issue a temp disc as I understand that's what they do in these circumstances.

Just bought all the service bits from Euro Car Parts with their 25% off deal so that will keep my indy busy whilst I'm on holiday. Pity I'd already bought my Castrol Edge from ASDA because it's included in the ECP 25% off Easter deal and 4 litres is only £26.99.

Glad you're back safely.

Sounds like the car was being used.....English Law could call that misrepresetation, but Scottish Law may allow for it. Bad about the tyres though - that's unfortunately the way some dealers behave! Unwanted immediate expense!

Nice looking car - I'm biased but the best colour for an X5.
If you are looking at replacing with Diamaris - check out Costco - they have a 20% off if you buy 4 (off already reasonable prices). They have it twice a year and their spring one should be coming up.
I'm on 20s with Vredestein Sessanta which are a bit cheaper and a bit softer which I prefer.
Good luck with it.
