Dont misunderstand me, I was entirely unimpressed with them, but I cant think of any dealer thats any better and when you have a pre-requisite that it MUST be a 7 seater, theres not that many to choose from. I sort of had to go to whoever had the cars. Even this dealer who had about 45 examples of X5's only had two 7 seater models and one of those was a 4.8 petrol model!!!!
This particular car seemed ok, full BMWsh, all the stamps, all the MOT's, all the mileages matching and stepping up equally, the engine was very dusty which is something I like to see, the odd leaf and cobweb here and there. All original paint without an ounce of overspray on any rubbers etc, all interior trim was matt as should be. All the signs of a car that has not been tarted up for resale. What we refer to as a genuine car.
No matter how bad the dealer is, you have far more rights to take a dealer to court over bad service/car. The bigger the dealer the more chance you have of succesful outcome, assuming of coure you have a valid argument. I have succesfully sued a dealer who sold me a 10 year old CL500 with a broken traction control ECU.
Anyway, if it wasn't for the 7-seater rarity I'd have bought privately which I always feel is the best place, afterall when you buy privately you are often dealing wth people that have not yet perfected the art of fibbing!
