KCA to iPod interconnect

Post by Denis O » Tue May 01, 2012 3:03 pm

So I've bought a new Intravee 11 (fed up of being outbid on eBay for £122 when a brand new one is £150.

Got a KCA 420i

Got a cable to join the Intravee and the KCA together.

I think thishttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALPINE-Ai-net ... 4aa78a460dis the right cable for joining the iPod Touch 1st Gen to the KCA but where do I get 1 in the UK.

KCA to iPod interconnect

Should do. Has it arrived minus the cable then I assume... Dodgy seller.
The cable linked above is the correct one in that case... Although after reading description I have no idea why you have to mess around with red and black wires. Ask seller if the have the correct one or try and by an original cable

That is NOT the correct cable!

That is a cable that people describe as a KCA-420i but is actually just the equivalent of an Aux in with charging. Those listings should be band for misrepresentation!

The only place I've ever seen the KCA-420i cable for sale is here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alpine-Genuin ... 2ebc7f5c99

If you bought a KCA-420i without one then unless it was advertised as such you should return it.

A KCA-420i without the iPod cable is worth £25 tops.

As always Richard you are the oracle in all things Intravee.

I did buy it knowing that the cable was not part of the deal and paid £26 so your estimate was about right.

I have no problem ordering the cable from the US of A but is there a UK or Euro based seller that has this cable.

KCA to iPod interconnect

Cannondale is correct. It's been a while since I fitted mine.
The round plug on that cable is the AI-net socket.

Your setup will be:
Unplug cable from the back of the cd changer. Plug that into intravee.

AI net cable from intravee to KCA.(both AI net round plugs)

Cable from KCA-420i to armrest( square ish end to iPod end)

If you have a look at caraudiocentre.co.uk there's a decent pic of KCA

I've never seen the cables for sale in the UK, but if you can find somewhere let me know!

I tried to buy a batch of cables from that seller, but they don't seem to want to know. They said we only have 3 in stock, so I bought 3, couple of days later there's another auction with another few, 3 available and 6 sold or some such.

I guess they must be available from Alpine as spares (there is no part number I know of) but I'd bet they will cost more from Alpine than shipping one from the US.

Thanks Richard. Ordered from US and await delivery.

A possible solution to the cable availability is to speak to FlashBack Sales. If there's a big enough market opportunity they may be interesetd in making some.
