Up to date sat nav disc

Post by fatladandy » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:56 pm

I have just bought an X5 and it has the original sat nav disc but nothing newer. Where is the best place to get an upto date sat nav disc, its for a 2002 model with the widescreen nav if thats any use to people. Its one of the things I want to get sorted before we pick the car up.

Due to the legal issues, the only 'official' reply you'll get to this is to go to a Dealer and hand over £180!  Of course others who know of these things may be in touch.. ;)

Google is your friend on this.  There is a good satnav section on xoutpost forum, although this is without doubt the best "X" forum ever so stick around

Xoutpost has a dedicated satnav section that will help you out too

Mod edit PVR - have removed any suggestion to alternate sources due to legality reasons

If you don't fancy an "alternative" supplier, there are plenty of used OEM ones on ebay. Obviously the price is higher for the more recent versions but if you avoid the "buy it nows" which tend to be expensive and don't want the very latest within a year or two, you can normally get a good deal from private punters in auctions. I had a 2005 and just upgraded to 2008-02. Cost £23 by auction.
The one you need is called "high" for searching purposes.

Reference my last, you need to check whether it is a CD or DVD based system. High is for DVD.
Good luck

In all seriousness please have a read:

http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdr ... ic.php?t=2

Two issues, one legal and the other that we don't want to be seen as an underground supplier of pirate software. Happy to allow genuine discussion of Sat Nav software but please cut out the "PM me, nudge nudge, wink wink"

I have been looking at genuine 2nd hand discs on ebay, what is the difference between say a 2007-1 and 2007-2.

Not much.  BMW issue two discs per year - or used to - for that system.  All that will change is some of the data on them, so a YYYY-2 is obviously the better choice in each year... :ok:

I had a feeling it would be something along those lines but always good to ask.
