BMW scanner will work with loads of bmws including yours.
Dunno about the retrofit of nav screen but I'm sure Sanj will be along soon enough with info on that. He's the guru lol

HI,
They are selling repair kits on Ebay, to replace the ribbon display, I sounds an easy enough job. I have a good DIN unit and cd player that I took out of mine when I fitted a Dynavin E39A head unit, but its the later 40 pin connecter I think not sure if it would be compatable with your wiring loom mines a 2006
fitting an OEM satnav is very expensive and complicated and the MK 4 satnav is very dated. Look into a stand alone Dynavin E39a unit £700 if you want satnav,DVD,Bluetooth phone TV etc.
be warned fitting is not for the faint hearted but you could have it fitted for you.
I live in Bury, not to far from you if you want a demmo.
