Probably best to give the man a ring and he should be able to tell you which amp he fitted.
#Sanj,
I take it the HU has a couple of RCA's? Front and rear? Or is that mass of speaker cables just left and right?
Not knowing the install setup, and seeing as getting to the amp (esp the input side) is difficult, is it possible to get to the back of the HU to see if is possible to do any isolation there before taking the ground loop isolation any further?
Just a couple of thoughts
Hope that helps

Hey Russ,
Yeah - other side is also an option but the headunit needs to come out, not sure Janette wants to do that, but defo feasible.
If it has RCAs that side. Which it has the option to connect to!

Re: I hate DSP
From a quick look at the kenwood site it is highly likely the gain and the rca inputs are at the other end which means the amp needs to come out. It would be best to put the isolator at the amp end as if its used at the HU end the signal cables may still pick up inductive noise as it travels along the car.
Re: I hate DSP
As others have said, a ground loop isolator will reduce/remove the noise but it will need to really be placed a the amp end.
In all honesty though it ca depend where all the wiring has been run. Ideally RCA cables and speaker cable should be run isolated to the power cables and remote wire. Looking at the one picture it does look like the remote wire is run with the speaker wires. If this is the case it could be this causing the whine you are hearing.
It could even be the aerial wife for the radio if a new one has had to be run. Try the suppressor in the first instance for sure.

Re: I hate DSP
So as an easy starting point, could I suggest that Janette or hubby carefully disconnects the switched feed, isolates, then connects the switched input to the live feed with a short link wire temporarily, but only if confident to do so. This should then prove our disprove the switched feed as the source of the interferance.

Yep, sounds like a good place to start tbh.

Re: I hate DSP
Wow guys, that's some great help and advice you've all given me, shame I don't understand any of it
. Update though, John finally rang me back today and has agreed to come here in a week to sort the problem out, I'm going to buy a loop isolator and show him these threads just in case he can't sort it out himself
best to have a back up. I'll keep you all posted and thanks again for all your help, you are all amazing.
Janette

Re: I hate DSP
Hi sanj, sorry its been awhile since posting, john came and had a look at it, said it was something to do with the levels on the amp being to high, adjusted them and left, well the whine came back as soon as he left and he as yet has not returned my calls.
hubby managed to get the amp out for me to take some pics for you, hope they help.

thanks
janette

Re: I hate DSP
The input sensitivity is used to match the output of the headunit and all that would do is try and mask the whine. What you would need to do is connect your ground loop isolator to the RCAs going into the amp (although I'm not 100% convinced it's at this end that the issue lies). Looking at the pics I still think it could be on the mass of output speaker wires combined with the remote wire or something.
Definitely try the isolator first though.

Re: I hate DSP
Hi, there are 4 green cables and they all go into the where the white and red line in sockets, when you unplug them the speakers don't work.

Re: I hate DSP
Get the ground loop isolators mentioned and connect them inline. You need two (front and rear), get them from some where that will take them back too.
Should sort it out. Reckon £10 to £12 max.
