I have a 2002 4.4i sport. is there an easy way to check if my sat nav is cd or dvd based

It will say it on the front of the cd / DVD player in the boot on the left !

For that year of car, if not updated by the previous owner then it will be the Mk3 CD based unit.

Pre-facelift (up to 2003) = Mk3 CD system.  Post-facelift = Mk 4 DVD based system by default.  Unless replaced.

The Nav disc should also have either a CD or DVD symbol on it - assuming the owner has used the right type.

Ok cool i will have a look later, assuming it is still the mk3 in there if i can find an mk4 cheap enough is it worth upgrading?

The Mark 4 enables use of the larger maps so you can have the whole of Europe rather than just UK & Ireland.  Not sure what other extra functions you can have.  If you're not driving outside UK then it might not be such a major thing for you.

I think the DVD just gives you more of everything - including the charge for the new disc.... >:(. (£180!!  :o )
